The Crimson City Christmas Address 2025
Hello noble patron of the arts,
We hope, on a personal level, you’re all doing great. Honestly, I think we’re all doing pretty good, heads down, doing things.
On a wider scale though, I think it’s fair to say feelings of decline, untetheredness and so on abound. The sources of this kind of feeling, and whether they are particularly justified now compared to any other period of history is a bit out of scope for this newsletter. I am currently reading The Rise And Fall Of The Third Reich, and at the very least I say with absolute certainty, things could be worse.
This leaves us with a choice; as the rails creak, and the roller coaster dips, either feel sorry for ourselves, or throw our hands in the air and go “Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee”.
In the spirit of doing the latter, we’ve released our first EP, ‘We Regret To Inform You The Vibe Continues To Deteriorate’.

The gestation for this was quite long, and often painful, but it’s done and it’s about for you to listen to.
It’s got fun songs about:
- Being locked in a room you hate, bathed in cheap fluorescent light, staring at the same spot on the ceiling and wondering if this is the time you’ve finally lost it
- Being a dog dying in space
- Feeling like you’ve created a fake copy of yourself, which is the version of you the world interacts with, and that, on balance, you probably don’t exist (i’m sure Plato had something to say about that kind of thing)
- BEING A BIRD NOBODY LIKES
- Watching, helplessly, in a state of resigned zen, as the world you thought you understand goes mouldy and degenerates into a nondescript slime
Ok, reading that back, we’re probably not making it sound fun, but how about if we also promise pugilistic riffs, fragile melody, and evocative lyrics shot through with humour and compassion.
If you’re on this mailing list at the time we’re sending this email, you’re probably one of the rarest, top tier supporters of our little musical enterprise - and we appreciate you very much, we hope it’s not a one way thing and maybe we’ve done something you like.
Now, you don’t have to DO anything. But, may we offer you some things you can do now, or keep an eye out for, that we reckon might be cool:
- Listen to our record, you can do it on Bandcamp, on Spotify, or on Youtube (it’s also on things like Apple music if that’s your flavour)
- Watch our cool music viddy for Cruel Dreaming, which we recorded during the actually recording of the record (thanks Theo for being there with a camera)
- Subscribe to the youtube channel, as we’re going to have a cool music video for Laika coming before too long
- Read a cool interview we did with Outside Left
- Buy a CD of the EP! Yes A CD, YES, people do still listen to them. The main point of these is for people to have a chance to own a really cool little thing, with cool artwork, and the permission to feel like the absolute (“I knew them before anyone else”) boss. These are coming soon, you’ll be able to get it from our Bandcamp, and at shows.
So what’s next?
First - we’ve got a show coming up in January, supporting Gaye Bikers on Acid, with 1919 (you can get discounted tickets through us! 12.50 instead of 25). I can absolutely promise you this show will NOT be boring. Expect some more shows throughout the year, we hope to see you there, please come along and say hello.
Early in 2026 we’re going to record our second EP, which will be more ambitious, more epic, knottier and even more apocalyptic.
Thanks for paying some attention to us, It’s not generally my intent that we want to message people to sell them things. My main goal for this newsletter is to make it an interesting read, whether we’ve got a specific thing being released or not, so I'll see if I can get that going in 2026.
This will be over soon
Keep on keepin' on
